The SPSSI Policy Preconference will take place on June 25, 2026, immediately preceding the SPSSI Summer Conference, which begins on Friday, June 26 and ends on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Typically, the preconference breakfast begins at 8:30 am and the programming begins at 9:00 am. Programming typically ends by 4 pm, and will be immediately followed by a happy hour event for all preconference attendees. Breakfast and lunch are included as part of the programming and are reflected in the registration fee.
This day-long pre-conference workshop will focus on practical pathways for psychologists and researchers who want to engage in democracy at the local and community level. Federal policy debates often surface through local issues, shaping schools, public health, policing, housing, and other community decisions. This workshop will help participants develop the skills, tools, and confidence to bring psychological science into these conversations. Through discussion and hands-on activities, participants will practice communicating research to diverse audiences, navigating difficult conversations with colleagues and community members, and engaging constructively with local leaders and legislators.
The program is subject to change and will continue to be updated as more details are confirmed.
