Administrative Assistant

We anticipate an opening for an energetic and resourceful ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT to join our small staff in June or July, 2010. This position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in all aspects of non-profit association management in an organization that focuses on member relations. The Administrative Assistant must be able to work independently, solve problems creatively, think outside the box, and take on increasing responsibilities for building efficient systems to address the needs of the organization. 

Specific activities may include:
• Monitoring and updating Website content and uploading new content
• Assisting with biennial conference logistics including promotion, pre-registration, banquet/catering arrangements, speaker support, and on-site activities
• Maintaining membership database and ensuring appropriate updates are correctly entered
• Working with our journal publishers to enhance subscriber support and resolve problems
• Responding to member inquiries and providing outreach to prospective members
• Internet and document research and report production
• Design and layout print and electronic flyers and educational or promotional materials
• Assisting with all phases of funds development projects
• Managing production of web-based newsletter
• Staffing and follow-up for governance committee and board meetings
• Assisting policy staff in program initiatives
• Maintaining accurate and well organized records
• Assisting with administrative aspects of grants and awards programs
• Answering phones and routing calls appropriately
• Ordering office supplies
• Working with vendors to coordinate troubleshooting and equipment repair
• Performing other activities as assigned

Position Qualifications:
• BA or BS degree with interest in all aspects of association management
• Maturity, good judgement, analytic and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional creativity, organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously and meet frequent deadlines
• Commitment to social justice and the application of scientific data to social problems
• Facility in MS Office applications and comfort with web-based applications
