Publications Committee

The Publication Committee serves as an oversight committee to advise and assist the editors of all SPSSI journals and books including Journal of Social Issues (JSI), Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy (ASAP), and Social Issues and Policy Review (SIPR), as well as SPSSI’s Books series. The Publications Committee conducts searches for journal or book series editors, recommends candidates for editorial positions to Council for appointment, and supervises the editors who are responsible for the acquisition, preparation, review, and contracting of journal and book manuscripts. Along with the Executive Director, the publications committee is SPSSI’s main point of contact with the publisher of its journals and books (currently Wiley & Sons). The committee may also take on other publications-related projects (e.g. a proposal for new publications) and develop policies and procedures for SPSSI publications. In addition, the committee maintains close working relationships with all relevant SPSSI staff (including the Communications Director and Policy Director).

The chair or co-chair attends Council meetings and provides a report on the status of publications. Chairs or editors also prepare regular reports on publications activities for the newsletter.
