SPSSI-New York Regional GroupHarold Takooshian, Fordham University Back on October 25, 1984 at Fordham University, the very first gathering of the SPSSI New York regional group (SPSSI-NY) heard legendary SPSSI co-founder Otto Klineberg graphically recount how “we formed SPSSI on September 1, 1936, on a warm summer evening during the APA meeting at Dartmouth College.” Since 1984, SPSSI-NY has continuously hosted at least 10-20 diverse activities each year for its 400 members in the greater New York region. Some of these are described online at www.spssi.org/ny. In spring of 2025, SPSSI-NY hosted 14 diverse activities, featuring a total of 46 experts relating psychological science to a variety of issues. Five of these focused on career preparation for students, featuring experts in I-O and applied psychology: Ethan L. Chazin, Kevin Moncayo, Joshia Feinberg, Jamilla Perez-Hosein, George D. Stokes, Brittany Perez, Nathalie Fineus, Yashawini Kataria, Anqi Zhang. On April 24, SPSSI cosponsored the 18th Psychology Day at the United Nations, a webinar where at least 722 people in 73 nations heard seven speakers describe their research on global issues.
