From the Editor of the Contemporary Social Issues Book SeriesBrian D. Christens, Editor of the Contemporary Social Issues Book Series
Contemporary Social Issues is the official book series of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), published by Cambridge University Press. Grounded in their authors’ programs of research, works in this series focus on social issues facing individuals, groups, communities, and/or society at large. Books published, in press, and currently in progress and under contract in the series are listed below (note that for books not yet published, final titles may change prior to publication). Sheri Levy (in progress) Michael Mascolo & Rebecca Legro (in progress) Iain Butterworth (Ed.) (in progress) Jon Roozenbeek (2024) Jon Roozenbeek & Sander van der Linden (2024) Laura Wray-Lake, Elan Hope, & Laura Abrams (2024) Alexa Bankert (2024) Erin Godfrey & Luke Rapa (Eds.) (2023) Luke Rapa & Erin Godfrey (Eds.) (2023) Each of these books advances understanding at the interface between sociopolitical issues and psychological dynamics. Scholars are often a primary audience, but many books in the series also contain insights relevant to practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders. In addition to obtaining copies for your own use, please make sure that copies are available at your institution’s library. Some research libraries enable access in electronic format through Cambridge Core. Do you have an idea for what could become a book in this series? I am happy to discuss ideas with potential contributors whose research addresses pressing social issues, including with those who have published mainly in research journals and are now considering a first book project. Prospective authors (and those with book ideas to discuss) should contact me by email. Most works in the series are sole- or co-authored books, although there is also room for high-level research works that appeal to a predominately scholarly audience, such as monographs and edited volumes. Please see the Contemporary Social Issues Author Guidelines for more information about the process of proposing a book for the series. The Contemporary Social Issues series with Cambridge University Press carries forward SPSSI’s long history of sponsoring books. It merges the missions of the two previous SPSSI-sponsored series published by Wiley, which were titled Contemporary Social Issues (for authored works) and Social Issues and Interventions (for edited volumes). Books in these two series, both edited by Dan Perlman, can be found on the SPSSI Books webpage. A full list of SPSSI-sponsored books (including out-of-print titles) can be found on SPSSI’s history pages and can be viewed either by author name or by date published. |
