SPSSI Executive Director

 





Susan Dudley, PhD has served as SPSSI’s Executive Director since 2006. Her professional background includes basic research in behavioral neuroscience, university faculty appointments, women's health and rights advocacy at both the state- and federal-level, and non-profit program and executive management. She spent a decade in academia, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology and biology while living in the US, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Montgomery, Alabama. Ultimately settling in Washington DC, she worked for nine years as a program director and then Deputy Director at the National Abortion Federation. There she was responsible for oversight of clinical education initiatives, membership services,  CME-accredited conferences, and development of the program ensuring quality patient care at NAF-member clinics nationwide. She has also served as Deputy Director at the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, where her responsibilities included policy and program planning and oversight as well as organizational management activities; as Senior Science Analyst at the National Breast Cancer Coalition, and as Director of Policy Research at the National Research Center for Women & Families. She earned her PhD in biological psychology from the University of Massachusetts, and completed a two-year NIH-sponsored post-doctoral research fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University Medical School.
