2012 Conference Travel Awards SPSSI's Biennial in Charlotte, NC

 

Travel awards may be used to cover all conference-related expenses including economy transportation, lodging, food, and conference registration.

1. International Travel Award- Application Deadline: April 30, 2012

To be eligible for a International Travel Award, an applicant must: 

• be enrolled in a PhD program or a member of a college or university faculty in psychology or a related social science discipline.
• be a resident of a country outside of North America. 
• be a dues-current SPSSI member. Applicants may join at the time they submit their international travel application.
• submit a brief statement (no more than two double-spaced pages) explaining how their participation at the conference would be consistent with the goals of the conference program.

Exclusions: Although you may apply for multiple travel awards at once, winners of the SPSSI Graduate Student Travel Award Diversity Travel Award, or Crosby-Spendlove Travel Award are not eligible for concurrent International Travel Awards.

2. Graduate Student Travel Award- Application Deadline: March 15, 2012

Status: CLOSED 

To be eligible for a Graduate Student Travel Award, an applicant must: 

• be a dues-current student SPSSI member. 
• be first or sole author on an accepted poster/symposium/roundtable.  Applicants remain eligible to apply if notification of acceptance is pending. 
• be a graduate student currently enrolled in either a Master’s or Ph.D. program and cannot win another travel grant in the same year.
• attend the 2012 SPSSI convention to receive the award.

3. Diversity Student Travel Award- Application Deadline: March 15, 2012

Status: CLOSED

To be eligible for a Diversity Student Travel Award, an applicant must:  

• be enrolled in a Ph.D. program with an emphasis in psychology or related discipline.
• be a member of an underrepresented group (these groups are defined as ethnic and racial minorities; first-generation college students; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered students; and students with a physical disability). Given that SPSSI is an international organization, applications from international students from underrepresented groups will be considered; applicants should explain how their participation at the conference would be consistent with the goals of the program.
• be a paid SPSSI member. If an individual is not already a member, he or she may join when submitting their diversity travel application.
•  have not received the SPSSI Graduate Student Travel Award in the past.  Applicants can not receive the SPSSI Graduate Student Travel Award, SPSSI Diversity Travel Award, or Crosby-Spendlove Travel Award in the same year.
• attend the 2010 SPSSI convention to receive the award. It is not required that applicants present research at the convention.

4. Crosby-Spendlove Student Travel Award in Support of Feminist Perspective and Social Justice- Application Deadline: March 25, 2012      

Status: CLOSED 

To be eligible for the Crosby-Spendlove Student Travel Award, an applicant must:

• be a dues-current student SPSSI member. 
• be first or sole author on an accepted poster/symposium/roundtable.  Applicants remain eligible to apply if notification of acceptance is pending. 
• be a graduate student currently enrolled in either a Master’s or Ph.D. program and cannot win another travel grant in the same year.
• attend the 2012 SPSSI convention to receive the award.
