"Every Child Deserves a Family Act" Congressional Briefing

On March 11, 2010, SPSSI joined with Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA-13), APA, PFLAG, and the Family Equality Council, to cosponsor a briefing addressing discrimination in the placement of foster and adoptive children on the basis of parents’ sexual preference.  Among the featured speakers was SPSSI member Charlotte Patterson, from the University of Virginia, who provided an overview of over 30 years of LGBT research on parenting, adoption, and related outcomes for children.
