Susan Clayton is the Whitmore-Williams Professor of Psychology at the College of Wooster in Ohio. She received her B.A. from Carleton College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in social psychology from Yale University.  Her research, which involves questions of identity and justice, has included a focus on gender and affirmative action but currently emphasizes environmental issues. In particular, she is interested in the ways in which people construct a relationship with the natural world within a social context, and how this may inspire pro-environmental attitudes and behavior.  A fellow of APA divisions 9 and 34, she is the editorial boards for several journals and is the chair of the environmental studies program at Wooster.
