Background

SPSSI is an international society, but SPSSI’s expertise and influence has traditionally been oriented towards issues arising in the North American context, reflecting its origins, linkage with APA, and that   international members from other continents currently constitute 10% of the membership.

At SPSSI’s council meeting in June 2015 Dominic Abrams (Former SPSSI President and Professor at the University of Kent, UK) and Natasha Ann Brigham (Former Intern at SPSSI’s Central Office and Social Researcher at London School of Economics and Political Science, UK) proposed developing SPSSI’s activities to better target and encompass the international psychology community. To develop this ambition SPSSI Council expressed strong support for the internationalization initiative. SPSSI is therefore pursuing this goal by supporting the development of SPSSI-UK.
