SPSSI GSC Communications Member-at-Large 2017-2018

Hello SPSSI Graduate Student Members! This is my last letter as your 2017-2018 editor for The Rookie and the GSC Committee Communications Member-at-Large. As a committee, we are incredibly grateful for the support and engagement received by SPSSI student members this year. Thank you for making The Rookie and our SPSSI GSC Facebook page possible. Thank you for allowing us to share contributions from our student members to the larger SPSSI organization.

In the future, I hope that the Graduate Student Committee continues to find unique ways to showcase student work. I have watched the GSC committee expand and adapt how they use social media, the newsletter, and other outlets to share student work and connect with our student members. My hopes for SPSSI GSC is that it continues to share student submissions through The Rookie (students can submit an article to be featured in our next issue of The Rookie (the submission guidelines can be found online and you can email your submissions directly to our new editor at spssi.rookie@gmail.com) and in our Graduate Student Spotlight series on our Facebook page, which has been highlighting published or presented work from our student members.

Serving as The Rookie editor and the SPSSI GSC Communications Member-at-Large over the past year has been an absolute honor. I have made incredible connections with other SPSSI members that I will value for a lifetime. I have made important research and academic connections that will serve for inspiration, networking, and valuable collaborations in my future. Serving in this position has taught me so much about SPSSI and all the functions this organization serves for its members, policy, and the community. If you are considering on becoming more involved with the student body or serving as a GSC member, please do! You won’t regret it.

I look forward to continuing to build connections and see you all at SPSSI’s annual meeting.
