In Memoriam

After a long and productive life, Daphne Bugental passed away on November 25, 2018. Daphne Bugental, a SPSSI member and 2003 Kurt Lewin Award winner was a Professor of Social and Developmental Psychology within the Psychology Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She received her Ph.D. in social psychology at UCLA. During her time at UCSB, she served as area head of Developmental and Evolutionary Psychology and, co-head of Social Psychology, and Co-Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Human Development. She has also served as Department Chair, and Associate Dean/Acting Dean of the Graduate Division. Her research was supported by grants from NSF and NIMH. Her research and teaching contributions were recognized not just by SPSSI but by the (UC) Presidential Award for Service to Undergraduate Research as well. She is a past Associate Editor of Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. She was a fellow of APA (social psychology, and developmental psychology), APS, and SPSSI.
