Editor, Social Issues from Student Perspectives

Hello SPSSI Student Members!

I am excited to announce our new name – Social Issues from Student Perspectives!

In this issue, we have several interesting and informative pieces related to our theme of immigration/ migration/ international issues. Our first piece highlights the benefits and challenges of Advocacy Day, our second piece describes the use of demographic labels within psychology, and our final piece features emic research with African immigrant families.

As editor, I am excited to showcase all of your incredible work and research, and I look forward to highlighting your success in our upcoming summer issue! Our next issue will focus on the theme of Fighting Injustice: The power of research, policy, and activism in challenging times. The deadline for submission will be on June 30, 2019.

I encourage you all to consider writing a piece for our upcoming Social Issues from Student Perspectives newsletters. You can find more information on our submission guidelines here, and you can email me directly at spssigsc@gmail.com. Additionally, our Facebook page features a Graduate Student Spotlight series, which highlights recently published or presented work from our student members. If you would like to featured, please email us at spssigsc@gmail.com.

If you have any suggestions or questions about our featured content, I would love to hear from you! If you are looking for opportunities to get involved and would like to help with Social Issues from Student Perspectives, reach out to me! I look forward to meeting many of you soon at SPSSI’s 2019 Summer conference in San Diego.

Happy reading!
