Joanna Weill

 

Joanna is a social psychologist and a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Court Innovation. Before joining the Center for Court Innovation, she was an Advisor at the Behavioral Insights Team. She earned her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz and her bachelor's from Vassar College. In her current position she conducts research and makes policy recommendations to reduce incarceration and reform pretrial practices in New York City. She also maintains an affiliation as a Research Associate with the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she continues to write and publish on the psychology of incarceration and attitudes towards prisoners. She has been actively involved with SPSSI since 2012. She was Chair of the Graduate Student Committee from 2014 to 2015, during which she also served on SPSSI Council. She was on the Nominations and Elections Committee in 2015 and the Policy Committee from 2015 to 2018. She is also a grateful recipient of a Clara Mayo Award and served for multiple years as a reviewer of Local & State Policy Initiative Proposals.
