Scholars Strategy Network

January 11, 2013

I’d like to draw your attention to a new opportunity to increase the public policy impact of your research.  The Scholars Strategy Network (http://www.scholarsstrategynetwork.org) is a progressive group of researchers, all of whom value and emphasize the policy implications of their work.  Scholars are committed to citizen engagement, and a strong scientific basis for policymaking. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: race and ethnicity, criminal justice, immigration reform, aging society, housing, women, and gun control. Members of the Network write clear, concise policy briefs summarizing their research and highlighting the policy implications of their findings, which are used to inform the policy community.  As their website describes:

As progressive-minded citizens, SSN members spell out the democratic and policy implications of their research in ways that are broadly accessible. SSN members engage in consultations with policymakers in Washington DC and state capitals. They make regular contributions to the media and share research findings with journalists and bloggers. SSN scholars are also committed to working closely with advocates and leaders of citizen associations to come to better understandings of the nation's social and political challenges.”

Leaders of the Network have expressed interest in increasing psychological expertise among the membership.  I encourage you to contact either Network Executive Coordinator Lizzy Ghedi-Ehrlich (eghediehrlich@fas.harvard.edu), or me, to get involved in this exciting initiative.
