Each year, SPSSI partners with the European Association for Social Psychology (EASP) to sponsor a scholarly conference, held alternately in a European and a North American venue.
Beginning in 2015, SPSSI and the Society of Australian Social Psychologists (SASP) have partnered to sponsor a scholarly conference to be held alternately in an Australian and a North American venue.
Held February 21-22, 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa, this colloquium was presented by the University of the Western Cape, the University of Kansas, the University of Pretoria, the University of South Africa, the South African Medical Research Council, the University of Witwatersrand, and SPSSI. The aim of the colloquium was to engage local and international scholars and practitioners of psychology in terms of the nuances of decoloniality within society, academia and practice. Moreover, conference attendees explored decolonial praxis, how this can be realized, as well as its implications.
