dedicated, enduring commitment and noteworthy contributions to SPSSI.

Congratulations to the 2026 Distinguished Service to SPSSI Awardees!

Elizabeth R. Cole is Professor of Psychology, Women's and Gender Studies, and Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan. She earned her doctorate at the University of Michigan in Personality Psychology and taught at Northeastern University before joining U-M in 2000. Her research has been published in journals in psychology and women’s studies, including American Psychologist, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, Psychology of Women Quarterly, and of course, JSI. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, and has also served as president of SPSSI (2018-19). Liz has served as the associate dean for social sciences and the interim dean of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and is currently the director of the National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID). Her scholarship applies feminist theory on intersectionality to social science research on race, gender, and social justice through a combination of theoretical and empirical work employing both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Roxanne Moadel-Attie is currently a Program Analyst for the Data Ingest and Collection for the Enterprise (DICE) program at the U.S. Census Bureau. Roxanne continues her commitment to narrowing the informational gap between research and practice. Her interdisciplinary research interests extend to social identity and intergroup relations. Further, she is an active member of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, having interned with the SPSSI UN-NGO team, annually reviewed submissions for APA Division 9, co-chaired the 2021 SPSSI conference, acted as a JSI special issue editor, and served on the Policy Committee.
