It is with sadness that SPSSI has learned of the death of one of our Past Presidents, Dr. Rhoda K. Unger, on April 19th, in Concord, MA after a short illness.

Rhoda was a feminist social psychologist who was well-known personally and through her work to many of you. Her first book, co-authored with Florence Denmark in 1975, was "Woman: Dependent or Independent Variable?" She authored such path-breaking articles as "Toward a redefinition of sex and gender" (1979) and "Through the looking glass, no wonderland yet (the reciprocal relationship between methodology and models of reality) (1983). Read more about her work on Feminist Voices and view her Boston Globe obituary.

Rhoda's family is having a "Celebration of Life" for her on June 1st at 2 P.M. in the chapel (ecumenical) at Newbury Court, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
