Sahana Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies at Gettysburg College. She earned her B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, and English Literature from Christ University, India, and her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from University of Kansas, USA. Her research focuses on topics of social justice with an emphasis on the role of cultural tools (e.g., museums, educational curricula) in the reproduction of privilege and disadvantage. She utilizes a diverse methodological toolkit—including qualitative and quantitative methods in the laboratory and in the field—to apply psychological theories to social issues in North American and South Asian spaces. Her teaching and mentoring philosophy is aligned with her research interests, and she strives towards developing students’ critical consciousness skills. She has been recognized as an “Exemplary Diversity Scholar” by the National Center for Institutional Diversity at the University of Michigan. Dr. Mukherjee has previously served on the dissertation awards committee, as SPSSI at APA conference co-chair, and has been a member of SPSSI for 10 years.
