Souhail M. Malavé Rivera is currently Adjunct Professor at the Center for Evaluation and Sociomedical Research at the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Puerto Rico-Medical Sciences Campus. She is Co-Director of the TEAM Network, a group of researchers that investigate, intervene, and promote comprehensive health, especially in sexual minorities in Puerto Rico and the United States. She completed a PhD in Social-Community Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras Campus, a postdoctoral Masters in Clinical and Translational Research (UPR-MSC) and a postdoctoral Fellowship in HIV research at the Centers for HIV/AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS)-Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies (TAPS) Program. Her research has informed the CDC and NIH-NIMH. She is particularly interested in the intersection of the social determinants of health (SDoH) that influence HIV transmission. She is also interested in research toward the elimination of health disparities with special interests in sexuality, LGBT health, women, and youth.
