SPSSI 2006 Biennial Convention
Social Justice: Reseach, Action, and Policy
June 22-25, Long Beach, California

SPSSI's convention was held in Long Beach, California from June 22nd to June 25th, 2006

The program consisted of invited addresses, symposia, 15-minute presentations, and poster presentations. Some of the invited addresses were given by: 

  • Patricia Devine (University of Wisconsin at Madison)
  • Edmund W. Gordon (Teachers College, Columbia University)
  • Aletha Huston (University of Texas at Austin)
  • Marybeth Shinn (New York University), SPSSI President
  • Sheldon Zedeck (University of California at Berkeley)
  • Greg Herek, 2006 Lewin Award Winner

We are also pleased to introduce best poster awards, given at each poster session. Also new this year, graduate student activities were integrated into the main convention.


FEATURES OF THIS CONVENTION

  • Symposia (1 hour or 1 hr. 45 minutes)
    Symposium presentations included 3 to 5 talks on a common topic. Proposals included a symposium title (10 words maximum) and a summary describing the symposium theme (300 words maximum), as well as titles (10 words maximum) and summaries (300-word maximum) of the expected contribution of each participant.

  • 15-minute Presentations - NEW!
    Individual proposals, including empirical reports, were submitted as 15 minute spoken presentations. Presentation proposals included a title (10 words maximum) and a summary (300 words max).

  • Poster presentations
    Individual proposals, including empirical reports, were presented in poster sessions. Poster submissions  included a title (10 words max) and a summary (300 words max).

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

  • Deadline for receipt of proposals was February 1, 2006
